ROXAS City — More economic development is in store for this city with the expected completion of the Roxas City Integrated Transport Terminal in eight to 10 months’ time, a city official said.
The P50-million terminal in Km. 1, Brgy. Lawaan is aimed at making traffic management more efficient, City Engineer Ardeili Ambrosio said.
Ambrosio said there will be no more traffic rerouting on the main road here because the terminal will improve the traffic flow on Km. 1.
The terminal is also seen to accommodate vehicles operating in other provinces in Panay Island, which will eventually usher tourists in the city, Ambrosio said.
An open area for vehicular parking will be made available at the terminal.
The project can “generate income in the long run through the collection of parking fees,” the city engineer said.
On Monday, the Sangguniang Panlungsod held a public hearing regarding the transport terminal with head of transport groups in Capiz.
Ninety percent of those who attended the public hearing were amenable to the project, Ambrosio said.
Tricycle drivers will benefit more from the terminal, their vehicles being the primary mode of transportation here, he said.
The construction of the terminal is being funded by the city government’s loan from the Land Bank of the Philippines./PN
