Defeated
candidate for town councilor killed

BACOLOD City – A defeated candidate
for the municipal council of Moises Padilla town was shot
in front of his house.
Wilfredo Navales, 48, was a resident of the
town’s Brgy. 1. He died while being rushed to the Elumba
Medical Clinic owned by former La Castellana Mayor Fernando
Elumba.
The shooting happened Friday night. Navales
was peeing in front of his house when shot.
Navales ran as councilor under the ticket
of Mayor Joko Nazareno of Moises Padilla last year.
Nazareno described Navales as a good and helpful
person.
Navales owned a bakeshop and a coffeeshop
in Moises Padilla.
Negros Occidental Police Director Senior Supt.
Rosendo Franco does not believe that Navales’ shooting
was political motivated.
He ordered Chief Insp. Rosauro Francisco,
commander of the Moises Padilla police station, to probe deeper
the incident./PN
