By ADRIAN NEMES III

BACOLOD City – A defeated candidate for the municipal council of Moises Padilla town was shot in front of his house.

Wilfredo Navales, 48, was a resident of the town’s Brgy. 1. He died while being rushed to the Elumba Medical Clinic owned by former La Castellana Mayor Fernando Elumba.

The shooting happened Friday night. Navales was peeing in front of his house when shot.

Navales ran as councilor under the ticket of Mayor Joko Nazareno of Moises Padilla last year.

Nazareno described Navales as a good and helpful person.

Navales owned a bakeshop and a coffeeshop in Moises Padilla.

Negros Occidental Police Director Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco does not believe that Navales’ shooting was political motivated.

He ordered Chief Insp. Rosauro Francisco, commander of the Moises Padilla police station, to probe deeper the incident./PN
