BJMP
to take over IRC
By JEZZA NEPOMOCENO
ILOILO – The Bureau of Jail Management
and Penology (BJMP) Region 6 will take over the Iloilo Rehabilitation
Center (IRC) in two years, according to Gov. Arthur Defensor
Sr.
Defensor said based on the proposal of BJMP,
they will manage and rehabilitate the facilities of IRC for
two years after the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA).
After which, he said, BJMP will bring back
the management to the provincial government.
BJMP, however, will not take over the ownership, said Defensor.
When the MOA is approved, only the qualified
IRC personnel will become the employees of BJMP.
Defensor said IRC personnel will have to abide
with the specified standard requirements for BJMP personnel.
“If some are found unqualified due to
lack of education, they will be given time to go to school
and comply with the educational requirements,” Defensor
said.
Through this, he said, the province will save
more or less P60 million./PN
