Villar nagsiling nga sa kapin tunga sa milyon nga mga gradwado
nga magadugang sa labor force, ang masunod nga presidente
mabudlayan gid sa pagsolbar sang problema sa kakulang sang
palangitan-an (unemployment) sa pungsod.
“The causes of unemployment problem
are deep-seated. We need to tackle this problem at the roots
in order to arrive at a long-term solution. For starters,
I want to focus on how graduates of Class 2010 can land jobs
so they would not join the ranks of unemployed,” siling
ni Villar.
Suno kay Villar, wala labot sa permanente
nga problema sang kakulang sa mga trabaho, ang mga bag-ong
gradwar nagareklamo man tuhoy sa indi patas nga mga lihok
sa hiring kag recruitment procedures sa pangpubliko kag pribado
nga sektor.
“We need to level the playing field
for all graduates. There should be no discrimination in the
hiring process. Everyone should be given equal opportunities
regardless of schools or other factors. The way I see it,
even honor graduates find it hard to get jobs,” siling
pa ni Villar.
Nahibaluan nga naka-file naman si Villar sang
hagna nga nagahingyo sa gobyerno ukon mga pangpubliko nga
opisina nga magbulig sa mga honor graduates sang state universities
and colleges (SUCs) nga makakita sang mga trabaho paagi sa
paghatag prayoridad sa ila sa hiring process.
Nag-file sia sang Senate Bill 552 ukon Public
Honor Graduates Priority Act nga magatinguha sa paghatag prayoridad
sa honor graduates sang SUCs sa recruitment sang civil service
employees.
“Prioritizing honor graduates of SUCs in the hiring
process is taking a step further. Prioritizing is certainly
different from discriminating,” dugang ni Villar.
Ginpaandaman man niya ang mga kompaniya kag
organisasyon labot sa ila pag-discriminate batok sa mga gradwado
sang iban nga eskwelahan paagi sa pag-indikar sa hiring criteria
sang mga ngalan sang mga eskwelahan nga ila ginapasulabi.
Ginhinambit man ni Villar ang entrepreneurship
bilang long-term solution sa kakulang sang palangitan-an sa
pungsod. Suno sa iya, makakas sini ang daan nga sulondan sang
mga eskwelahan sa Pilipinas sa pagpreparar sang mga estudyante
nga mangin mga empleyado. “We also need to create a
new generation of entrepreneurs. We need more job providers
to counter the increasing number of job-seekers.”
