US Department of Veterans
Affairs visits Dumaguete City

By ROBERT V. DELACRUZ

DUMAGUETE City – This city was again chosen by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as venue for its outreach visit to veterans and their dependents.

It provided VA information and assistance to claimants who could not afford going to its office in Manila and for those who were not comfortable writing letters to them.

City Public Information Officer Andrey Noel Tumulak said the Department of Veterans Affairs sent two veterans service representatives to conduct interviews on July 10, 2008 at the Women's Center beside the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in Brgy. Tinago.

During the outreach program, benefits available from the VA were discussed. Questions from the audience were also entertained.

The activity was also in coordination with the American Legion (AL); Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP); Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, Inc.; Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans./PN
