bets to sign peace covenant tomorrow

ROXAS City – For a peaceful, orderly
and honest election, local candidates will sign a peace covenant
tomorrow.
The signing is being initiated by the Capiz
Police Provincial Office (CPPO), the Commission on Elections
(Comelec) and the Parish Pastoral Council and Responsible
Voting (PPCRV).
Senior Supt. Josephus Angan, Capiz police
director, said the covenant signing will be held after a 1:30
p.m. mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral here.
Capiz remains generally peaceful so far since
the start of the election period on January 10.
“It only proves that the Capiceños have attained
a level of political maturity that dispels violence as a means
to ensure victory during elections,” Angan said.
Expected in the signing are candidates for
city mayor, vice mayor and Sangguniang Panlungsod; governor,
vice governor, Sangguniang Panlalawigan; and for congressman
both in the 1st and 2nd Districts of Capiz.
Running for Capiz governor are reelectionist
Gov. Victor Tanco and former Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn
“Joc-joc” Bolante.
The candidates for vice governor are Board
Member Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Contreras and former
Roxas City Councilor Mark Ortiz.
Rnning for congressman in the 1st District
are reelectionist Cong. Antonio del Rosario, Vice Gov. Felipe
Barredo, former Cong. Rodriguez Dadivas and Diosdado Tinsay.
In the 2nd District, the congressional candidates
are Retired Police Gen. Roberto “Bobby” Lastimoso
and Jane Tan-Castro.
The candidates for mayor of Roxas City are
reelectionist Mayor Vicente Bermejo and former Vice Mayor
Angel Alan Celino.
