2008 July 17 – 23 – The
Iloilo Provincial Federation of Differently Able Persons (IPFDAP)
in coordination with government and private institutions will
focus the observance of the National Disability Prevention and
Rehabilitation (NDPR) week on the theme “Kapag May Access,
May Success”. IPFDAP President Rex S. Barber disclosed
that this year’s NDPR week, now the 30th, will re-adopt
last year’s celebration’s theme “Kapag May
Access, May Success”. Barber said that the theme recognizes
the importance of giving persons with disabilities equal opportunities
in all aspects of human endeavors for them to lead productive
and successful lives.
2008 July 28 - The 8th State of
the Nation Address (SONA) of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
will this time focus on government's subsidies to the poor,
electricity, food production and infrastructure.
2008 July 28 - 30 - The Philippine
Information Agency (PIA-6) training for incoming college paper
editors and writers at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
The training is aimed at preparing them for their job as campus
paper writers. For the college level, the seminar-workshops
will include topics on development communication, investigative
reporting, business/economy reporting and peace journalism,
to be handled by media practitioners in the region.

training for high schools in Iloilo City and Guimaras at the
Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
2008 August 7-10 - 7th
National Coconut Festival at SM Mega Trade Hall 2, SM Megamall,
Mandaluyong City as part of the 22nd National Coconut Week.
PCA Administrator Oscar Garin urges all coconut stakeholders
to fully participate in the
exhibits, trade fairs and various special events lined up during
the activity as this will help establish market linkages both
locally and globally.
2008 August 18 – 20
- PIA training for Iloilo Province
and Antique at the Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
2008 August 25 - 27 –
PIA training for Aklan and Capiz High schools at the Grand Hotel,
Iloilo City.
2008 September 2-4 - PIA
training for Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.
2008 September 12 - President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo has declared Sept. 12, 2008 as a National Day
of Prayer for Peace and Reconciliation of our nation. In Proclamation
No. 1555, the President said the promotion of peace and unity
among the Filipino people remains to be one of the highest goals
of the government.
2008 October – 6th United
Nations World Tourism Organization (WTO) Forum in Cebu City.
Climate change, poverty reduction and the role of women in tourism
are the three important issues to be discussed in the forum.
