| City
to provide live telecast of Pacquiao-Clottey fight
BACOLOD City - All Bacoleños will have
the chance to witness the showdown of pound-for-pound king
Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey for the WBO welterweight
championship belt on Sunday, March 14.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia announced today that
the city government will sponsor a free live telecast of the
fight in 11 venues all over the city.
He said it has been a tradition of the city
government to sponsor live telecasts of Pacquiao's fights
as the boxing hero is an adopted son of Bacolod. Pacquiao,
who considers the mayor as his “belt magnet,”
is a good friend of the mayor.
The venues where people can watch the live
telecast of the Pacquiao-Cottley bout are: BAYS Center, and
Barangays Sum-ag, Tangub, Bata, Granada, Mansilingan, Banago,
Mandalagan, Handumanan, Estefania and Singcang.
The city government will also put up large
television sets in the three major public markets for the
delayed telecast of the fight.
Leonardia said the live telecast, which will
be provided by Sky Cable Bacolod, is not exclusive to the
residents of the barangays where the live feed is set up.
He said residents of neighboring barangays can also watch
the bout./PN
