BORACAY – More banking institutions
are putting up their branches in Brgy. Caticlan.
The Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC)
will soon be one of them.
RCBC will open an extension office near the
Caticlan Jetty Port on July 28.
According to Caticlan Jetty Port Administrator
Niven Maquirang, they are expecting more banks to be put up
near the area.
Niven said they also anticipate more investors
to come, saying that the port really opened Caticlan to more
opportunities.
Almost all major banks have already opened
their branches near Boracay.
On the other hand, the Mercury Drug, one of
the largest pharmaceutical chains in the country, recently
opened its Caticlan Branch.
Meanwhile, the San Miguel Corp. partnered
with Filipino-Chinese investor George Yang for the development
of the Caticlan port, which is about P2 billion.
The Aklan provincial government also has a
P260-million reclamation project in the village.
“Undeniably, Caticlan has become the
center of development in the province,” Maquirang said.
Aklan Provincial Assessor’s Office Chief
Kokoy Soquilon said real property rates in Caticlan might
increase as the village continues to develop./PN
